Greetings all, I managed a brief outing this morning in search of the elusive brown trout with moderate success landing 3 fish in a couple of hours and foolishly losing a healthy female brown below a step gradient cluttered with debris. She pounded a #4 Black Wooly Bugger as it swung into the eddy created by the brush. Nevertheless, she educated me and I thank her for the lesson, fish 1, Frank 0.
I count 5 trips under my belt with the fly rod this year. For the most part the stream's denizens are in the typical winter patterns. The precipitation has fueled my love for fishing big heavy things in fast current in the hopes of snagging the bottom from time to time, really, if you aren't snagging, you aren't nymphing. Beaded prince and hare's ears are producing contact with fish and the takes have been easily recognizable........Big Bait catches big fish but it's amazing what a 22 brassie will drudge up from the bottom, especially if you're patient.
So, for the rest of the story.........whipping up some chili for the evening fare and considering the menu for our first overnight bass fishing trip in May and trying to figure out how to whip up some Franky's Peking Goose for the festivities in recognition of the Chinese New Year. With alot of time and alot more to say I extend my thanks for your eyes and time. Peace be with you, fish......fish really, really hard. Until next time.....
